    As such, we are in a period of exciting and significant investment in establishing a new Biobank facility at the SBA, and we are seeking a SBA Biobank Project Officer to provide technical and administrative support for projects in the design and establishment of the new facility, equipment, operational workflows, and planning the re-location of existing biospecimen collections to the SBA Biobank. The role will support the coordination, implementation/delivery of a broad range of activities and tasks with different stakeholder

    groups as planning and development for the SBA Biobank progresses.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • provide technical and administrative support for projects in (1) the design and establishment of the new facility, equipment, and operational readiness, and (2) planning the relocation of existing biospecimen collections to the SBA Biobank
  • support coordination, implementation, and delivery on a broad range of activities and tasks with different stakeholder groups as planning and development for the SBA Biobank progresses
  • undertake independent research and analysis to provide information and make recommendations for different aspects of the facility design and operational planning, including compliance, safety, and efficiency of operational workflows
  • provide technical and hands-on support for project deliverables, documentation, and communications to help ensure effective collaboration across the broader project team
  • assist with planning the re-location of existing biospecimen collections into the SBA Biobank, including in-depth preparation and sample auditing for the re-location of multiple different biobanks into the new facility.

About you

  • requires knowledge of biobank operations and quality management in a research or clinical setting
  • have practical knowledge and biobanking experience in procedures including the collection, processing, and storage of human biospecimens
  • good understanding of relevant legislation, governance, and regulatory compliance (such as ISO accreditation standards and SOPs
  • experience with administrative tasks and communications in various formats, such as organising meetings, and preparation and presentation of summaries and reports, and the development and documentation of SOPs and manuals in accordance with regulatory standards/requirements
  • ability to carry out routine tasks autonomously under broad supervision and be able to evaluate and summarise relevant information from various sources to aid in informed decision-making processes
  • expected to prioritise their own work to meet any deadlines and project needs
  • ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, coupled with organisation skills with excellent attention to detail, and strong planning and problem-solving skills
  • hold a tertiary qualification in Science/ Biomedical Science or relevant field or an equivalent recognised qualification relevant to biobanking, Medical Laboratory Science or relevant speciality.
