Summary;

Our client is a very high profile Federal Public Sector agency.

Their headquarters is in Canberra, and they have IT teams in Canberra and Sydney.

This role can be based in their Sydney CBD-based or Canberra head office.

A minimum current Baseline security clearance is required, with ability to have it upgraded to NV1. (If you already have a current NV1 or NV2, all the better.)

They have a very good IT team which is growing - and this is a new role.

Work will be carried out as hybrid - generally 2 days office / 3 days WFH. Can vary depending on need for (say) face-to-face stakeholder meetings.

This role is currently signed off for an initial 12 months, and is expected to be extended for a further 12 months (and possibly longer again).

Our client is hoping to have someone start late March, but are fine if it takes longer due to notice periods.

Background:

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Program Director to join their Sydney team and lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of projects, under the umbrella of a Reform Program which will deliver initiatives to meet current and future needs under reform, as well as transformation programs of work. To this end, to apply for this role, you should have experience successfully delivering transformation programs of $10M and above.

Obviously, as a program director, you must also have demonstrable experience managing multiple concurrent project work streams.

Responsibilities and experience needed include:

• Ability to lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of projects which would include both COTS and bespoke.
• Project development, implementation and closure.
• Experience across both COTS and bespoke systems implementations.
• Project plans and business cases, governance, resource management, and reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement strategies and tools for continuous monitoring and evaluation of the various projects you have overall responsibility for.
• Risk and contingency management.
• Benefits realisation.
• Leading and managing both internal and external vendor teams.
• Constructive stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage and resolve conflicting project / stakeholder demands and priorities.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and Office 365 tools.
• A plus: Experience with Commonwealth protective security and procurement frameworks (eg, PSPF, CPRs).
