Social Work and Social Policy

  • Full-time appointment on a tenurable basis.
  • Base salary range: Level B, $113,934 – $134,824 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The School of Allied Health has a reputation for a strong evidence based approach to research and education that is used for policy and practice development. The School aspires to be a school in which staff and students feel valued and supported in their individual and collective efforts to improve community health and wellbeing. The Department of Social Work and Social Policy is located in the School and offers a two year postgraduate Master of Social Work, a four year undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work along with Higher Degree by Research option and Graduate Certificates in Child Protection and Mental Health.

About the role

  • Source and secure student field placements for the Master of Social Work.
  • Deliver quality teaching and unit coordination in social work.
  • Undertake research and obtain research funding, individually or in collaboration, as well as supervising research students and contribute to the academic environment of the School.

About you

  • Up to five years social work practice experience in a relevant industry setting.
  • High-level self-management skills with the ability to efficiently work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines.
  • Experience in the supervision of social work students on field placements.
  • Knowledge of and strong networks within the health and human services sectors.
  • Capacity to obtain research grants and undertake research.

Note: A current National Police Clearance Certificate, Working with Children Check, and “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.
