The Opportunity

Join UniSC as a Digital Platforms Specialist, where you'll play a pivotal role in leading and supervising a team of on-prem infrastructure and cloud engineer professionals. You'll strategically manage and enhance our core infrastructure environment, driving operational excellence and service delivery. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders and vendors, you'll spearhead research initiatives and benchmarking efforts to identify system enhancements, ensuring optimised return on investment and streamlined business processes. Working alongside the Manager, Digital Platforms and IT colleagues, you'll contribute to the development of policies and standards, with a focus on business continuity, capacity planning, security, and availability management.

You will

  • drive innovative initiatives for UniSC’s Digital Platforms, collaborating with stakeholders to align with the university’s strategic goals;
  • build a client-focused support culture, ensuring our digital infrastructure delivers reliable, high-quality services that meet institutional priorities;
  • provide strategic guidance to enhance the design, delivery, and operations of UniSC’s core infrastructure, empowering university-wide efficiency and performance; and
  • lead, mentor, and manage technical teams, fostering excellence in service delivery, achieving performance goals, and creating a supportive environment for success.

You will possess:

  • Extensive leadership experience in complex service organisations, driving change, strategic planning, and delivering successful projects while managing budgets, vendors, and evidence-based business cases.
  • Proven success in leading teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously within intricate organisational structures, delivering impactful results.
  • Exceptional project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, using structured approaches to resolve technical challenges and implement innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Deep expertise in supporting and managing core infrastructure systems, including network, server, storage, and cloud technologies in large-scale organisations.
  • Extensive experience building and managing relationships, including leading negotiations with external vendors to develop, maintain, and support critical infrastructure and tools.
  • Proven ability to develop and refine policies, procedures, standards, and documentation for network systems that support organisational goals.
