Your Impact
Tenants Victoria currently builds the capacity of the tenancy sector through advisory services and professional development programs. The Sector Support and Capability Manager will provide expert strategic advice to further enhance the organisation’s programs and consultancy services. They will identify, design and implement initiatives that build capability, expertise and sustainability of renter support professionals in Victoria. You are a senior manager that will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team including strategic and operational planning, and development of new and existing projects.

The Role
As a strategic leader, the primary responsibility of this role is to drive the organisation’s program of sector support, capability and training to benefit Victorian renters. Working closely with the Director Policy, Advocacy and Engagement and leading a multidisciplinary team, you will develop and execute our Sector Capacity strategy whilst managing stakeholders and ensuring effective measurement and reporting.
You will also be responsible for:
- Design and implement a strategic framework to guide leadership and education to meet sector needs
- Manage organisational partnerships to drive strategic growth and sector capability
- Develop and work with our facilitators to deliver high-quality education offerings aligned with the framework and evidence-informed best practices.
- Research and implement external thought leadership and best practices.
- Provide expert advice to key stakeholders including Director Policy, Advocacy and Engagement, CEO, Board, and members on workforce capability priorities.
- Foster strong relationships with members, government, and other stakeholders to ensure fit-for-purpose offerings.
- Be responsible for the performance management of your direct reports.
- Provide financial management of projects and Sector Support Program.
- Regularly evaluate process, procedures, and system improvements as required.
- Support the organisation to strengthen networks, engaging the support and involvement from a range of individuals and organisations.
Who are you?
The ideal person for this role is a confident leader with a passion for social justice and a deep understanding of Sector Capacity and Education in a challenging environment. You will preferably have substantial experience in social and community service, housing, justice, or government settings.
You will bring:
- Strong knowledge of or experience in delivering adult learning / running training programs
- High level competence in consultation processes and client engagement
- At least 5 years’ management experience leading a team of multi-disciplinary professionals delivering education/training services and showing impact and results
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Behave at all times in a manner consistent with our purpose, values, and policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate strong client engagement skills and ability to handle challenging situations with sensitivity and tact.
- Ability to work autonomously and to consistently consult and report appropriately.
- Demonstrate a flexible and collaborative approach to working with other staff and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate capacity to provide creative solutions to improve effectiveness of service delivery for clients.
