QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing education to key stakeholders within QBuild and its clients to minimise risk and facilitate compliance.

Duties and skills involved:

  • Implementing and coordinating the Statewide Native Title Assessment Program.
  • Planning and managing the operations of this specialist property and native title project team to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources, timely reporting, and provision of relevant, practical, expert advice on native title and property matters.
  • Monitoring and reporting on departmental and client compliance with legislation and procedures to meet changing client needs and environments.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client confidence through managing complex native title programs and projects from feasibility stage and option analysis through to completion for outcomes in property acquisition, disposal, leasing, and development while ensuring client expectations and budgets are met.
  • Leading and directing a statewide native title program for internal and external client property portfolios through the management of resources and the provision of expert advice and specialist services while ensuring client expectations and budgets are met.
  • Representing QBuild and its clients at whole of government forums, coordinating requests for advice on dealings, and coordinating responses to requests for the purpose of negotiating claims.
  • Managing and negotiating complex property dealings in Indigenous communities on behalf of clients.
  • Leading the review, development, and implementation of property management and native title policies and procedures to educate and inform key stakeholders on mandatory requirements to reduce risk in property transactions for QBuild and client departments.
  • Providing expert native title advice on processes to QBuild stakeholders and client departments to reduce risk and provide excellence in customer service to develop strong relationships for continued appointments.
  • Representing the department on high-level government committees and interactions with private sector, industry groups, and other State and Commonwealth property related bodies in relation to significant issues affecting native title property transactions and policy.
  • Preparing high-level correspondence including briefing notes, submissions, native title assessments, fee proposals, client engagement documentation, reports and information papers, along with commenting on proposed changes to legislation relevant to property management and tenure issues.

Additional requirements (mandatory/desirable):

  • High level knowledge and implementation of the Queensland State Government Native Title Work Procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in intermediate to high-level native title assessment and high-level tenure research.
