ALIVE & Kicking Goals! Male Peer Educator – Mentor (50d) - Derby
Mens Outreach Service Aboriginal Corporation operating as Family Outreach Service, was established in 2001 and provides programs in youth services, family domestic violence and men’s health & wellbeing across the Kimberley.
The ALIVE & Kicking Goals! Youth Suicide Prevention Program (AKG) is an award winning Indigenous led initiative, promoting strong and healthy living, and aims to reduce the high suicide rate among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the West Kimberley. Our team provide one-on-one mentoring and group workshops providing awareness and tools to help young people overcome their personal challenges, whilst learning how to set and achieve their own goals.
ALIVE & Kicking Goals! Male Peer Educator – Mentor (50d)
An exciting opportunity is available within our AKG team for a Derby based role. We are looking for a young Indigenous man who wants to make a difference. Your role will include:
- Mentor young people, assisting them to set and achieve their goals and dreams.
- Engage with youth who are dealing with challenges in life.
- Provide holistic education on social and emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention.
- Be a positive role model for Kimberley youth.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Ability to work with young Indigenous people.
- Ability and availability to undergo training courses.
- Experience in facilitating workshops or confidence to learn.
- Ability to travel and work within the Kimberley region, outside of Derby.
- Computer literacy, good time management, written & verbal communication skills and planning & organisation skills.
Requirements and relevant information:
