Key responsibilities
Must be available to work in our rooms at Epworth with flexibility to fill in if needed at our rooms in Torquay.
Permanent hours Tue: 10am-6pm Wed: 9am-5pm Thu: 9am-3pm Availability to cover sick and holiday leave when required.
1. Provide professional, service oriented high volume medical secretary services to practice patients, including:
• greeting patients and assisting them accordingly
• answering telephone calls, making appointments, taking messages and drawing on knowledge of the practice’s procedures to respond to general inquiries (under guidance for nonstandard matters)
liaising with hospital to book patients for procedures and operations
• handling, collating and distributing mail and other correspondence
• word processing documents and correspondence including the creation of medical letters to other medical professionals
• monitoring maintenance requirements and ordering supplies
• filing, data entry
• database maintenance.
2. Provide payment handling services including processing Medicare and health insurance providers claims where applicable.
3. Provide general administrative and office support services.
4. Review the efficiency and effectiveness of work practices and procedures, suggest and implement improvements as directed.
5. Build, maintain and apply a comprehensive knowledge of the practice’s policies, procedures and techniques to provide services and find appropriate solutions to day today issues.
6. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of contacts and use these to facilitate communication.
7. Typing clinical letters from doctor's dictations. (must have typing experience)
8. Other duties as directed
