To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced practitioner who has or hold the following attributes:

• Ability to deliver high performance outcomes across information technology operations within a small agency, supported by:

o Experience in the planning and direction of an information technology operational group comprising desktop, infrastructure and data services, plus business applications including M365 and Azure.

o Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary information technology and data management service provision and current public sector initiatives and issues.

• Extensive experience as a trusted leader with experience in optimising the work environment/design and culture to enable a positive and healthy workplace.
• Commitment to continuously improving leadership effectiveness through critical self-reflection and active involvement in cross-sector initiatives to extend experience and exposure to new environments and ways of working.

Your contribution and accountabilities

• Provide leadership, motivate, and develop a team of IT, Spatial and Data professionals through high-level coordination, ensuring your team has the required capability to support ECQ, providing guidance and training as necessary.
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive innovation, efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity towards the future directions and actively promote a culture that supports and values staff.
• Provide technical advice and input where required and act as an escalation point for non-routine matters.
• Ensure the smooth operation of the ICT department in alignment with the business objectives of the organisation. The ICT manager will plan, direct, coordinate and design ICT-related activities, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the ICT department.
• Oversee ICT contracts, vendor management and payment arrangements.
• Provide direction, oversight, and technical expertise to help desk enquiries ensuring appropriate resourcing to resolve each issue and in non-standard cases, assess the situation and devise a solution to the problem in order to ensure a timely response and effective resolution to all issues.
• Review the current state of organisation-wide data management and utilisation, identifying risks and opportunities through the ownership and implementation of frameworks, policies, and procedures, to improve organisational focus on data quality, management and contribution to strategic priorities.
• Collaborate, advise and consult with relevant teams and stakeholders on the future direction of ECQ's digital landscape.
• Oversee the data management environment and reporting and analysis for the organisation.
• Contribute to team cohesiveness, wellbeing and capability through participation in establishing a positive environment, respectful of the views of others across the HR team and broader ECQ workforce.
• Consistently display the Queensland Government values, ensuring that these are upheld and championed when representing ECQ.

Adapt to changing environments and potential changes across the Digital Technologies team while ECQ embark on a strategic review post-election period, which may impact the roles scope and accountabilities.

Essential/desirable requirements

• There are no essential requirements however the following will be desirable:

o Prior experience working with M365 and Azure technologies.

o Practical application of ITIL in an operational technical environment.

o Managing secure environments within the ASD Essential 8 framework.
