Risby Cove is seeking an experienced Chef to lead its growing team of hospitality professionals in the picturesque village of Strahan, Tasmania. Located on the shore of magnificent Macquarie Harbour, Risby Cove has a reputation for offering the premier accommodation and dining experience in this popular tourism region.
The Chef will be responsible for assisting in the creation of menus using fresh Tasmanian produce, preparing outstanding food in our award-winning waterfront restaurant and assist in the delivery of special events and guest experience packages.
The Chef will report to the Head Chef and will work closely with the rest of the Risby Cove team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall preparation and cooking of meals in a variety of dining or catering environments.
- Design and plan menus, ensuring a balance of nutritional needs and seasonal ingredients.
- Manage food and staff expenses, including budgeting and ordering supplies.
- Supervise the quality and consistency of dishes throughout the cooking and plating stages.
- Collaborate with team members, including managers and dietitians, to address food-related challenges.
- Provide training on culinary techniques and guide kitchen staff on best practices.
- Prepare meals according to specified recipes or customer preferences.
- Maintain strict compliance with health and safety standards in food preparation.
- Recruit and mentor kitchen personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee the proper storage and preservation of ingredients and prepared meals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Typically holds an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (Skill Level 2).
- In-depth knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu creation.
- Strong management skills in overseeing food ordering, cost control, and scheduling.
- Excellent attention to detail in monitoring dish quality from start to finish.
- Clear communication and problem-solving abilities when working with a team.
- Solid understanding of hygiene regulations and food safety practices.
- Experience in managing and developing staff within the kitchen environment.
- Creative thinking when designing dishes and maintaining consistency across services.
