This is an exciting Senior Policy Advisor role within the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action's Policy Pool team. DEECA's Policy Pool comprises highly capable and experienced policy advisers available and willing to be deployed to work in areas of need across the department. This role suits someone who likes working on hot issues and priority projects across a variety of subject matter areas.

The Senior Policy Adviser is expected to be able to step in at short notice and lead the delivery of a stream of work so must demonstrate policy nous, flexibility, agility, strong relationship building and project management skills. The successful candidate must also be a quick learner, solutions focused, and adaptable to changing priorities.

The position could involve leading or contributing to cabinet submissions, budget bids, regulatory reviews, or program evaluations. Strong written and communication skills are required, including to brief the Minister and the Departmental Executive. The applicant may be required to represent the Department at stakeholder meetings and forums.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a public policy role.
  • Economic policy experience would be beneficial, but not compulsory

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
