An opportunity exists for an outstanding Assistant Accountant to join our Head Office team.

The Role

Based in the Collingwood head office with onsite parking, the role reports to the Financial Controller and will be an integral member of a small finance team. Key tasks will include but not be restricted to:

Accounts Payable

• Accurate allocation of invoices cost / amount to each store - DHL, Direct Freight, Telstra, Australia Post, etc.
• Managing the Accounts email inbox.
• Upload and import invoices into invoice handling system (Medius) for the approval process by department line managers.
• Follow up invoices that haven't been posted in AP21.
• Updating suppliers in relation to the payment status.
• Investigating and resolving queries from suppliers.
• Reconciling supplier statements.
• Set-up new suppliers and verify supplier details.
• Organising and uploading weekly payment runs.
• Sending remittances and payment confirmations to suppliers.

Other

• Daily bank reconciliations – store banking including Eftpos, cash deposits, AMEX and reconcile store takings.
• Weekly reconciliation of company credit cards.
• Reconcile and journal web sale receipts – Shopify, Afterpay, Paypal, Klarna, AirWallex, etc.
• Journaling merchant fees and other ad hoc bank entries.
• Send monthly sales figures to landlords for retail stores.
• Assisting with the preparation of month end journals including prepayments and accruals.
• Monthly review of gift cards.
• Monthly stock adjustments.
• Assistance with the month end reporting process.
• Monthly general ledger reconciliations.
• Preparation of statutory statistical reporting.

Preferred Experience / Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar position.
• Proven experience in daily accounting functions.
• Well developed communication skills – both written and oral and the ability to actively and accurately listen.
• Attention to detail, timely follow up, problem solving, working collaboratively, adaptable, and ability to prioritise.
• Certificate IV Accounting and above.
