At Bendigo Heritage Attractions, we proudly preserve and operate three of Bendigo's most significant heritage sites; Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Tramways and the Bendigo Joss House Temple.

We are looking for a professional and passionate individual to join our team as an Assistant Accountant.
This position would be suited to someone who is either studying or has recently completed an accounting related degree.
As the Assistant Accountant you'll provide support to the Manager – Finance and wider finance team by helping to prepare accurate and timely financial statements, monthly accounts, budgets, assist in preparing GST returns and providing payroll processing support.
The Assistant Accountant duties include:
- Bank account reconciliations
- Accounts receivable
- Accounts payable (as required)
- Support the Manager - Finance and wider finance team.
- Work with the finance team on various accounting projects.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly monitoring against actual amounts.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of GST returns.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Provide support to the Manager - Finance with general accounting queries.
- Perform processing and reconciliations of accounts including:
- Count, reconcile and bank all daily cash takings (as required)
- Provide support for payroll processing (as required)
- Provide internal customer support to a consistently high standard.
- Contribute ideas for improvement and participate in continuous improvement processes.
- Other duties within training and competencies as required.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team with limited supervision and within deadlines.
- Extensive computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of accounting software (Xero preferred).
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, applications, and concepts.
- Attention to detail.
- Well developed verbal and written communication and organisational skills.
- Responsible and accountable.
All Bendigo Heritage Attractions employees and volunteers are required to have a valid Working with Children Check.
