Public Health Services works to improve and protect the health and wellbeing for all Tasmanians. We work with many people and organisations across a wide range of areas and at all levels of government to: ◾protect Tasmanians from public and environmental health hazards ◾prevent and reduce chronic (long-term) conditions at the population level ◾help people achieve their best possible health. We assess and manage public health risks including environmental health, radiation protection and communicable diseases. We also monitor the health status of Tasmanians to help inform decision-making and health priorities. We work by setting polices and delivering or funding programs that aim to improve rates of physical activity and good nutrition, ensure healthy environments, and reduce the harms from tobacco.
