The image of a girl holding up a fork has become synonymous with The Pancake Parlour restaurants over the past four decades. Artist Peter Von Czarnecki adapted a woodcut from a long-defunct British magazine advertisement for “Harleen for the Hair.” Von Czarnecki replaced the comb in the lady’s hand with a fork and underneath emblazoned the simple word LOVELY! The LOVELY! Lady logo was born and seen on such unlikely places as the helmets of the US Soldiers in Vietnam, the snowmobiles of the Australian contingent in Antarctica and the giant hot air balloons of Roger Meadmore in the skies over Europe during the world championships.
