About the role

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Business Manager (GM Designate) to join our team on a full-time basis at our location in Bassendean, WA 6054. Working directly alongside the Director to help lead the business, improve systems, develop people and progressively assume greater responsibility with the intention of transitioning into the General Manager role. This is a strategic management position designed to develop emerging leaders who are ready to step into a General Manager role. As Business Manager (GM Designate), you will take on significant operational responsibilities whilst being mentored to eventually assume full General Manager responsibilities. You will play a crucial role in driving business performance, leading teams, and implementing strategic initiatives that contribute to the company's growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

Overseeing day-to-day operational activities and implementing efficient business processes across all departments

Driving accountability and operational performance

Improving systems and processes to deliver operational efficiency and excellence

Leading and managing team members, including recruitment, training, performance management, and development of staff

Developing and implementing strategic initiatives aligned with company objectives and business growth targets

Managing budgets, financial forecasting, and cost control measures to optimise profitability

Maintaining and enhancing customer relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and service quality

Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and preparing regular reports for the Directors

Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies

Collaborating with senior team members to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation

Building and maintaining strong supplier and vendor relationships

Acting as a mentor and coach to develop management capabilities within the team

What we're looking for

Minimum 5–7 years of experience in a general or operations management role, preferably in events, logistics, hospitality or service sectors

Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate teams of varying sizes across different departments and locations

Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management

Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Proven track record of driving operational efficiency and implementing process and systems improvements

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels

Strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans

Knowledge of relevant compliance and regulatory requirements

Resilience and an ability to problem solve and make decisions under pressure

Willingness to learn and develop towards a General Manager position through mentorship and on-the-job experience

Relevant tertiary qualification in business management, commerce, or a related field is highly regarded
