About the Role

At Mayfield, we are seeking an experienced Product Manager – Protection Panels & Control Systems responsible for the commercial, technical and operational success of Mayfield's Protection Panels and Control Systems product offering. The role provides leadership across the entire product lifecycle, ensuring products meet customer requirements, industry standards, commercial targets and business growth objectives.

Duties

Product Strategy & Business Development

Develop and maintain the Protection Panels & Control Systems product roadmap aligned with customer, utility and market requirements.

Identify market trends, emerging technologies, utility standards and customer requirements relating to protection relays, SCADA, RTUs, telecommunications and control systems.

Support Business Development with product positioning, bid strategies, pricing models and technical presentations.

Act as the subject matter expert for protection and control panel solutions across the business.

Commercial & Project Delivery

Manage projects from handover through to practical completion, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule and quality targets.

Review contracts, specifications and customer requirements to ensure accurate project scope definition.

Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing and site delivery activities.

Monitor project margins, forecasts, variations and commercial risks throughout project execution.

Develop and maintain project schedules and resource plans to support customer commitments.

Manage client relationships and provide regular project updates to key stakeholders.

Identify potential project risks, delays or resource constraints and escalate appropriately.

Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance on protection schemes, control systems, relay selection and panel architecture.

Review protection and control drawings, BOMs, procurement packages and FAT documentation.

Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives relating to protection systems, panel design and manufacturing efficiency.

Participate in design reviews, FATs, customer inspections and lessons learned workshops.

Supply Chain & Manufacturing

Work closely with procurement to develop supplier partnerships for protection relays, PLCs, RTUs, communications equipment and panel hardware.

Support manufacturing teams with technical resolutions and production planning.

Monitor critical materials and long-lead items to minimize project delivery risks.

Drive standardization of components and suppliers where appropriate.

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline (essential).

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, or Operations leadership role within electrical manufacturing, OEM, EPC, or utility industries.

Demonstrated experience with protection panels, control systems, substations, switchgear, or power distribution projects.

Strong technical and commercial expertise in electrical protection systems, including protection relays, SCADA, RTUs, PLCs, substation control systems, and the ability to manage the full product lifecycle from concept through to commercial delivery.

Proven project and stakeholder management experience, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning while building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
