Ventia’s Energy & Renewables team is growing, and we’re looking for a SHEQ Compliance Officer to support our HV Transmission Construction projects across Australia. About the Role

This is a site-based position (4–5 days per week) embedded in active HV transmission construction projects. You’ll work closely with crews, supervisors, subcontractors and project teams to ensure all activities meet Ventia’s high standards for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ).

Your focus will be on proactive compliance, risk mitigation and strengthening a positive safety culture across all work fronts.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with SHEQ standards, HV safety requirements and high-risk work controls
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to permits, SWMS/JSA and approved work practices, intervening where required
  • Support health, wellbeing and environmental compliance, including fatigue management and hazard controls
  • Lead or support incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and effective corrective actions
  • Maintain SHEQ records, complete audits and track performance metrics
  • Engage and mentor crews, supervisors and subcontractors to drive safe behaviours and continuous improvement

Experience & Qualifications

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS (minimum)
  • Environmental or Quality qualifications (desirable)
  • ICAM / TapRoot investigation training (preferred)
  • Experience in HV transmission or major infrastructure construction
  • Proven track record in field-based SHEQ roles
  • Experience working with subcontractors and site teams

Technical Knowledge

  • HV transmission construction (towers, stringing, substations)
  • WHS and environmental legislation and standards
  • Risk management and quality assurance processes
