Business Administrator / Payroll & Accounts Officer
Part-Time Position | Wholesale Nursery | Approximately 50 km from Darwin
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Business Administrator / Payroll and Accounts Officer to manage the day-to-day financial administration and office functions of our large wholesale nursery.
This is a hands-on and responsible position requiring someone who can confidently manage payroll, bookkeeping, invoicing, reconciliations, employee records and general business administration with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Process employee payroll accurately and on time
Manage employee timesheets, allowances, deductions and leave entitlements
Complete STP reporting, superannuation processing and payroll reconciliations
Enter and manage supplier invoices and customer payments in MYOB
Prepare customer invoices, statements, remittances and credit notes
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Follow up overdue customer accounts and assist with debt collection
Complete daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
Reconcile company, business and related entity transactions
Match invoices, purchase orders, delivery paperwork and payments
Maintain accurate financial and administrative records
Prepare reports and information for management and the company accountant
Assist with BAS, end-of-month and end-of-financial-year requirements
Maintain employee files, payroll records and other confidential documentation
Manage filing, scanning, archiving and general office administration
Answer phones, respond to emails and assist customers and suppliers
Order office supplies and help maintain an organised and professional office
Assist with other administrative duties as required
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
Previous experience in bookkeeping, payroll or business administration
Strong working knowledge of MYOB
Experience processing payroll, STP and superannuation
A good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and email
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Strong organisational and time-management skills
The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
The confidence to work independently and take responsibility for completing tasks
A professional approach when handling confidential financial and employee information
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Experience with inventory, wholesale, horticulture, transport or a similar operational business would be an advantage.
About the Role
This is not a junior data-entry position. The successful applicant will take responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll and administration functions of the business and will work closely with management and the external accountant.
The workplace is a busy, fast-paced wholesale nursery environment. Applicants must be practical, reliable and willing to assist with a variety of tasks when required.
The business is located approximately 50 km from Darwin, so the position would particularly suit someone living locally or comfortable travelling to the nursery each day. Reliable transport is essential.
