About the role

We're looking for a Junior Electronics Engineer to join our R&D team in Sydney. Working under the direct supervision of the R&D Manager, you'll support the research, design, development, testing, and validation of electronic systems and components for our medical and diagnostic device range. You'll receive structured mentorship and managerial oversight throughout, and you won't be expected to make independent regulated design decisions.

Key responsibilities

Assist the R&D Manager with research and development activities, including product prototyping, system integration, and design optimisation for medical and diagnostic applications

Support the translation of product requirements into practical electronic design solutions under managerial guidance

Design, develop, debug, test and validate electronic circuits, schematic diagrams, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer, EasyEDA, and other EDA tools

Design, develop, debug, test and validate USB communication systems, embedded electronic hardware, and high-speed data interfaces

Design, develop, debug, test and validate power management and battery-powered electronic systems, including Battery Management Systems (BMS) and charging circuits

Design, develop, debug, test and validate embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems supporting hardware control, communication interfaces, and data acquisition

Execute electrical/electronic test procedures to verify system functionality and performance against engineering requirements

Conduct hardware verification, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analysers, under managerial oversight

Support EMC pre-compliance activities, including PCB design modifications and technical documentation, under R&D oversight

Assist in prototype assembly, system integration, and testing of medical devices and associated electronic subsystems

About you

Degree (completed or near completion) in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline

Exposure to Altium Designer, EasyEDA, or similar EDA/PCB design software

Familiarity with C/C++ for embedded/microcontroller firmware development

Comfortable with engineering documentation (BOM management, revision control, test report writing)

Foundational understanding of analog/digital electronic circuit design and PCB layout

Ability to use, or willingness to quickly learn, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analysers for test and fault-finding

Willingness to learn and work closely under managerial guidance

Strong written communication skills for technical documentation

Curious, methodical, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving

Exposure to USB communication protocols or other high-speed digital interfaces (desirable)

Benefits

Direct mentorship from the R&D Manager and exposure to the full medical device development lifecycle

Hands-on experience across hardware, firmware, testing, and regulated documentation
