SMP Construction Coordinator

Location: Pilbara Region, WA (Site-Based)
Roster: 2:1 FIFO Roster
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Start Date: Mid-August

Office-Based: $115–$118 per hour (inclusive of super)

Site-Based: $135–$140 per hour (inclusive of super)

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator to join a major Hydrogen Project in Western Australia. This is a site-based position ideally suited to candidates with a strong Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) background and proven experience delivering large-scale construction projects within the oil & gas, energy, hydrogen, or chemical processing sectors.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will act as the key interface between site operations and engineering teams, ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. You will play a critical role in managing constructability, coordinating fabrication and installation activities, supporting management of change processes, and ensuring project schedules and deliverables are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate construction engineering activities throughout fabrication and site execution phases.

Review engineering deliverables to ensure constructability requirements are met.

Interface with engineering disciplines, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

Support execution planning, constructability reviews, and project delivery strategies.

Manage fabrication schedules and monitor progress of fabricated items through to site delivery.

Prepare and review implementation work packs and fabrication scopes.

Assist with procurement activities, subcontractor engagement, and contractor management.

Monitor project cost, schedule, and progress performance.

Support site-based Management of Change (MOC) processes and design modifications.

Prepare progress reports and provide regular updates to project stakeholders.

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all construction activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Degree qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant trade qualification.

Minimum 8 years’ experience within oil & gas, hydrogen, energy, chemical processing, or related industries.

Strong construction engineering and site execution experience.

Demonstrated experience on Australian construction projects.

Brownfield project execution experience within operating plant environments.

Strong understanding of fabrication, construction, completions, and commissioning processes.

Proven ability to manage project schedules, costs, and contractor performance.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency with standard project software; Primavera P6 experience is advantageous.

Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.

Working Conditions

Site-based position in the Pilbara region on a 2:1 FIFO roster.

10.5-hour working days plus a 30-minute unpaid break.

Opportunity to contribute to a significant hydrogen development project.

Potential for extended hours as required to meet project milestones.
