We are recruiting for multiple water and wastewater service operator roles. In these roles, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment services. From supporting clean and reliable drinking water supplies to ensuring wastewater treatment systems operate safely and in line with environmental standards, your work will directly contribute to the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians. Whether completing planned maintenance or responding to unexpected issues, no two days will be the same.

Training in sewer treatment practices and associated skills will be delivered by our trusted training partners, with ongoing coaching and mentoring from our skilled and experienced staff throughout your career.

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

Meet the physical requirements for the role, which include lifting, kneeling, and working in confined and outdoor spaces. We use mechanical aids, team based work and safe work practices to support operators in performing these tasks safely;

Participate in structured on-call, occasional overtime and emergency call-out situations (all with additional pay).

The Role

We currently have multiple openings across Southern Tasmania.

Water Services Operator — Duties include pipe repairs, responding to sewer blockages, and performing network maintenance on water and sewer mains.

Wastewater Services Operator — Responsible for operating sewer treatment plants, maintaining and operating sewer pump stations, and overseeing general plant operations.

Water Services Operator (Regional) — A multi-skilled role involving water treatment, sewer treatment, pumping operations, and network pipe repairs.

Bulk Wastewater Operator - responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure that transports and treats large volumes of wastewater before it is safely returned to the environment.

We are also building a talent pool of motivated and skilled professionals who are interested in being considered for upcoming fixed-term or permanent opportunities within our team.

These permanent full-time role offers a 9-day fortnight and a total remuneration package ranging from $85,078.62 to $89,805.21 (including 15.5% superannuation). The package reflects an hourly rate starting at $36.84, with an increase to $38.89 following successful completion of probation.

On call, call out and additional team specific allowances are available.

Training in water and wastewater industry operations, treatment practices, and associated skills will be delivered through our training partners, with ongoing coaching and mentoring from skilled and experienced operators throughout your career.
