An opportunity is available for an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker / Fabrication Technician to join an established business in the transport and heavy fabrication industry based in Rocklea.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll remain on the tools while leading a team of Service Technicians, coordinating workshop activities and providing technical guidance. You’ll be involved in the fabrication, welding, assembly and fitting of heavy vehicle bodies, trailers and transport equipment.

Duties

• Leading and supporting a team of Service Technicians
• Allocating daily tasks and coordinating workshop workflow
• Hands-on boilermaking, fabrication and welding
• Fabricating, assembling and fitting heavy vehicle bodies and trailers
• MIG and TIG welding
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and fabrication plans
• Troubleshooting fabrication issues and providing practical solutions
• Inspecting completed work to ensure quality and specification requirements are met
• Supporting toolbox talks, risk assessments and workplace safety
• Leading by example across safety, quality and workmanship

Skills & Experience

• Trade Qualified Boilermaker, Fabricator or Vehicle Body Builder
• Strong fabrication and welding experience
• Experience with trailers, heavy vehicle bodies, transport equipment or heavy fabrication
• Proven MIG and/or TIG welding skills
• Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience highly regarded
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
• Good communication and leadership skills
• Strong commitment to safety and quality
