About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Procurement Governance Lead to join a leading organisation's Procurement Excellence team on a 7-month maternity leave contract based in Adelaide.

This role is focused on ESG governance, sustainability reporting, Indigenous procurement initiatives, modern slavery compliance, procurement policy development, and governance frameworks. Acting as a key subject matter expert, you will support the organisation's sustainability objectives while ensuring procurement practices align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal governance expectations.

This is a highly autonomous position suited to a senior professional who can quickly understand complex business environments, work independently, and deliver outcomes from day one.

About the Team

The Procurement Excellence function provides governance, systems, reporting, strategy and operational support to a large procurement team supporting operations across multiple regions. You will work closely with procurement leaders, sustainability stakeholders, and procurement professionals across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ESG governance and compliance activities across the procurement function.
• Maintain and enhance procurement policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Validate and support ESG, sustainability and procurement reporting requirements.
• Drive improvements in Indigenous procurement and supplier engagement strategies.
• Support modern slavery compliance initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
• Monitor procurement performance against sustainability, local content and Indigenous participation objectives.
• Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for ESG and sustainability improvement.
• Develop recommendations and future-state strategies to mature ESG procurement practices.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure governance requirements are embedded in sourcing and supplier management processes.
• Deliver training, guidance and support on ESG and procurement governance requirements.
• Manage external relationships with organisations such as Supply Nation and other industry bodies.
• Prepare executive-level reports and ensure supporting data and evidence are accurate, robust and audit-ready.

During the contract, the successful candidate will:

• Review and enhance Indigenous procurement and supplier diversity initiatives.
• Assess opportunities to increase Indigenous participation across procurement activities.
• Support reporting obligations relating to local supplier engagement and Indigenous procurement spend.
• Maintain accurate ESG and sustainability reporting processes.
• Support ongoing Modern Slavery compliance and reporting activities.
• Develop strategic recommendations to support the future evolution of ESG procurement practices.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• 5-7+ years' experience in Procurement Governance, ESG, Sustainability, Compliance, Risk or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of ESG, sustainability and procurement governance frameworks.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, governance frameworks and compliance programs.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities, including working with large datasets and reporting tools.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to validate and verify complex reporting information.
• Experience interpreting regulations, standards and policy requirements.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Experience delivering strategic recommendations and continuous improvement initiatives.
