Signature Staff is recruiting on behalf of our client, a long-established and highly respected hospitality business that has been welcoming locals and visitors to Tropical North Queensland for over 40 years.

Known for exceptional customer service, quality dining experiences and a busy restaurant environment, our client operates seven days a week for lunch and dinner, while also hosting private functions and events.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an organised and customer-focused Administration Officer to become an integral part of the team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys guest contact, bookings, administration and being part of a busy hospitality operation. If you have worked in hotel administration, conference and events, hospitality sales support, reservations, customer service administration or a similar fast-paced environment, this could be a great fit.
About the Role

This is far more than a traditional administration position.

You will be the first point of contact for many guests, managing restaurant reservations, enquiries and administrative functions that help keep the business running smoothly.

You will work closely with the owners and management team while supporting the day-to-day operation of one of Cairns' busiest hospitality venues.

Core Hours

The successful applicant must be available for:
Wednesday: 4:00pm - 8:30pm Thursday: 4:00pm - 8:30pm Friday: 4:00pm - 8:30pm Saturday: 10:00am - 3:00pm Additional weekday hours are available for the right person, with the opportunity to build the role into a full-time position, including training in Xero and broader business administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing restaurant reservations via phone and email
  • Assisting guests with bookings, functions and general enquiries
  • Coordinating table allocations and reservation changes
  • Supporting the management team with day-to-day administration
  • Data entry and maintaining accurate customer information
  • Assisting with correspondence and office administration
  • Updating menus and business documentation
  • Filing and record management
  • Assisting with social media content and marketing activities
  • Learning additional finance and administration duties, including Xero (full-time pathway)

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and can remain calm when things get hectic.
You may come from:

  • Hospitality Administration
  • Customer Service Administration
  • Another fast-paced administration environment using booking systems

Hospitality experience is highly regarded, as understanding restaurant operations and table allocations will help you succeed in this role.

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Previous administration or customer service experience
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A friendly, professional and positive attitude
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Confidence learning new software systems
  • Experience using reservation, booking or POS systems (highly regarded)
  • Hospitality experience or an understanding of restaurant operations (preferred)
  • An understanding of restaurant reservations and table allocations, or the ability to quickly learn in a high-volume hospitality environment
