There is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Northern Territory's thriving tropical plant industries sector. Working as part of a Territory-wide Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) team, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills while contributing to the advancement and support of this important and growing economic sector.

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is seeking a Principal Technical Officer to support RD&E activities that will facilitate the rapid growth of broadacre cropping in all regions of the Territory, in line with Northern Territory Government’s commitments.

We are seeking an experienced technical professional who can contribute to agricultural RD&E initiatives. The successful applicant will possess extensive and current knowledge of broadacre cropping systems, preferably in the Northern Territory, including experience in the operation and maintenance of specialised technical equipment, as well as the management of cropping trials and demonstration sites.

The primary location for this position is Katherine. The role involves regular travel by road to rural properties. Therefore, the successful applicant must hold a current driver's licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle or hold the equivalent of a Northern Territory Class C driver's licence.
