About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Technician with Fibre Optic Spliceing and Testing Skills to join our team at Optical Data Services Pty Ltd in Bibra Lake, Western Australia. This is a full-time position responsible for the Communications installation, splicing and testing of fibre optic cables to support our telecommunications infrastructure projects. As a crucial member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring reliability and performance in the delivery of fibre optic networks.

What you'll be doing

Splice and test fibre optic cables to the highest industry standards

Perform fault-finding and troubleshooting on fibre optic networks

General communications cabling works, Cat6A, Telecoms backbone, pathway installations

Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work activities

Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure project delivery and customer satisfaction

Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date with industry best practices

Adhere to all relevant health, safety and environmental policies and procedures

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a fibre optic splicer/tester, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role

Strong technical knowledge and understanding of fibre optic installation, splicing and testing techniques

Proficient in using fibre optic test equipment and diagnostic tools

Proven experience as a communications technician with data cabling experience, a minimum of 5 years in a similar role

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to high quality standards

Good communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required

A holder of a current Australian Passport / Citizenship, to be eligible to hold a DCAC and Australian Defence base clearance, and possibly a higher NV1 clearance.

Must pass a police clearance

Must be available to work on remote projects ie. Defence projects in Exmouth WA, and BHP projects in the Pilbara

Must be able to pass a Cat3 pre-employment medical
