About the role

Wyvern Private Hospital is seeking an Engineering Services Supervisor to join our team in Terrey Hills, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing our engineering services operations. As supervisor, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services, and maintaining operational excellence across the hospital. The Engineering Services Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of building engineering, maintenance operations and specialist service contractors across Wyvern Private Hospital.

The role ensures the hospital’s infrastructure, essential services, building systems and physical assets are maintained in a safe, compliant and operational condition to support uninterrupted patient care and hospital operations.

The Engineering Services Supervisor provides frontline supervision of maintenance activities, contractor performance, statutory compliance requirements and work order management while supporting continuous improvement of asset performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements.

Coordinate and supervise planned and reactive maintenance activities across hospital facilities and infrastructure.

Manage the day-to-day activities of maintenance contractors and service providers.

Monitor contractor performance, compliance and service delivery standards.

Administer and monitor maintenance work orders through the hospital CMMS.

Ensure statutory inspections, testing and maintenance activities are completed within required timeframes.

Support compliance with all relevant legislation, Australian Standards, accreditation requirements and hospital policies.

Coordinate permit-to-work activities including high-risk works and contractor access.

Assist with management of essential services including fire systems, HVAC, hydraulic systems, electrical infrastructure, lifts, medical gases, security systems and building automation systems.

Monitor asset condition and identify maintenance, replacement and capital improvement requirements.

Assist with planning and management of service shutdowns and maintenance projects.

Support implementation of the Water Risk Management Plan, Emergency Management Plan and other compliance programs.

Investigate maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions where required

Maintain asset register and accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation and service reports.

Develop positive working relationships with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure facilities issues are addressed promptly.

Participate in emergency response activities and after-hours support arrangements as required.

Participate in quality improvement activities within the hospital

What we're looking for

Proven experience in an engineering supervisory or team leadership role, preferably within a health or technical services environment. Demonstrated contractor management and coordination skills.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance, engineering services or building operations

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and industry standards and ability to work effectively in a healthcare environment.

Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively, including recruitment, training, and performance management

Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders

Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure

A commitment to health and safety compliance and continuous improvement

Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in a building services, engineering, facilities management or related discipline.

Experience in the healthcare or medical device sector would be advantageous.

Strong understanding of building services and hospital infrastructure systems. Sound knowledge of maintenance management systems and work order processes.

High level of attention to detail and compliance focus.

Experience with planned and reactive maintenance programs.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
