The National Centre is seeking an experienced and adaptable Manager, Business Operations to lead the core business functions that enable our organisation to operate effectively and deliver on its mission.

This is a unique opportunity for a practical, solutions-focused leader who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and can confidently move between strategic thinking and day-to-day operational management. Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategy, Governance & Operations, you will oversee a small team responsible for operations, governance and reporting, while ensuring the organisational systems, processes and business practices that underpin our work remain effective, compliant and fit for purpose.

About the Role

As Manager, Business Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation runs smoothly and efficiently. You will provide leadership across business operations, governance, compliance, reporting and organisational administration, while coordinating key outsourced service providers and supporting the implementation of organisational priorities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both developing strategic solutions and rolling up their sleeves to ensure things get done.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the day-to-day business operations of the organisation.

Managing and developing a small team responsible for operations, governance and reporting functions.

Overseeing organisational governance, compliance and reporting obligations.

Supporting Board and Committee processes and organisational reporting cycles.

Coordinating outsourced business services, including finance, payroll, human resources and other specialist providers.

Driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and organisational practices.

Maintaining oversight of organisational risk management activities.

Supporting the Executive Director to translate strategic priorities into effective operational outcomes.

Building strong relationships with funders, partners, service providers and stakeholders.

About You

You are a versatile and collaborative leader with strong business and operational management experience. You are comfortable working in environments where priorities can shift and where success depends on balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery.

You will bring:

Experience leading or managing business operations, corporate services, administration, or organisational functions in a complex organisational environment.

Experience leading and developing staff in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Strong organisational and project management skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work across a broad range of business functions.

Sound understanding of governance, compliance and reporting in a not-for-profit, government, health, education or community sector environment.

Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work with autonomy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
