Our client provides specialised communications and radio systems to a range of safety critical, defence, law enforcement, maritime security and other major industries across Aus and is currently seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer with knowledge and hands-on development with DSP, microcontrollers and C programming to drive and improve on current and new products for future innovation requirements.
Permanent full-time role, based in the lovely Northern Beaches of Sydney, NSW.
Ideally have Australian Citizenship and ability to work on-site and travel as required.

Position details:

The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

The Embedded Firmware Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the specification, design and verification of in house and ODM/OEM products for Australian Monitor. The role will include new and ongoing development of the product range from an engineering standpoint.

Key Result Areas and Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for commercial audio products.
  • Collaborate with hardware, DSP, software, mechanical, and product teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Design, implement, test, and debug firmware for new and existing products.
  • Contribute to product specifications, technical documentation, and verification activities.
  • Support continuous product improvement and innovation across the product range.

Key Role Criteria

  • Minimum 10 years experience
  • Embedded firmware design and development for ARM, SHARC DSP, Blackfin, and other microcontroller platforms.
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP.
  • Highly proficient C programming skills.
  • Digital audio signal processing (DSP).
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design.
  • Experience debugging, testing, and diagnosing embedded systems.
  • Understanding product design processes and the complete product lifecycle.
  • Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ideally hold Australian Citizenship or PR accepted.
