Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse Coach practices autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing education services within a rural / remote health service setting.

The Clinical Nurse Coach role is an advanced level clinician who is responsible for supporting nursing student workforce development and growth, undergraduate, post graduate, new nursing employees and ongoing professional develop of nurses and midwives providing leadership, clinical and education direction, the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of evidence-based and best practice education services.

As the Clinical Nurse Coach, you will demonstrate advanced level expertise and/or skill set in the provisions of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, NMBA standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant to legislation and context of care. It is an advanced practice nurse who delivers a variety of clinical training activities designed to meet identified learning and development needs of nurses. The Clinical Nurse Coach works in the clinical area offering direct support and supervision to students, graduate nurses and nursing staff to promote and facilitate clinical care outcomes.

Charleville is a designated Remote Area Nursing Incentive Package (RANIP) site in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award – State 2015. This attracts additional entitlements which may include:

  • Additional annual leave per annum!

icon A $3.3 million upgrade and refurbishment program is under way at the Charleville Hospital, as part of a $51.58 million state-wide rural hospital rectification works program due for completion by August 2015.

icon Along with the other works, another $2 million is being spent on upgrading ageing water piping at Charleville Hospital, with completion also expected by August 2015.

icon A $3 million upgrade to the Roma Hospital including updates to essential fire and electrical safety systems was completed in early 2014.

icon Master planning for the long-term future of the Roma and Charleville hospitals was completed in mid-2014 and a formal request submitted to Government for the construction of new hospitals at each centre. This request will be considered as part of future government capital works programs.

icon A $500,000 refurbishment of the Emergency Department at St George Hospital was completed in late 2014. The upgrade includes a triage area to improve workflow and patient confidentiality. The work was funded by the South West Hospital and Health Service (HHS) out of its 2013–14 budget community dividend.

icon A new seven-bed sub-acute/rehabilitation service at Roma Hospital was opened in mid-2014. The unit provides geriatric evaluation and management, as well as rehabilitation services for the South West region.
