About the role
Havnadip Bus Repairs Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Automotive Spray Painter to join our team in Derwent Park, Tasmania. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality finishing services to our clients. As an Automotive Spray Painter, you will be responsible for preparing, mixing, and applying paint and protective coatings to buses and automotive vehicles, ensuring exceptional results that meet industry standards and client specifications. This position is integral to our operations and directly impacts the quality and reputation of our work.
Key responsibilities
Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality
Mix and match paint colours accurately according to specifications and client requirements
Apply paint coatings using spray equipment, ensuring even coverage and a professional finish
Operate and maintain spray painting equipment, including compressors, spray guns, and ventilation systems
Inspect finished work for defects and undertake necessary touch-ups or corrections
Apply protective coatings and specialist finishes as required
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety protocols
Follow environmental regulations and safe handling procedures for hazardous materials
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and any issues
What we're looking for
Proven experience as an Automotive Spray Painter, preferably within the bus repair or heavy vehicle industry
Strong knowledge of spray painting techniques, materials, and equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and colour codes
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes
Physical capability to work in spray booths and handle equipment safely
Understanding of health and safety regulations, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive spray painting, or equivalent industry training
Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to varying project requirements
Current driver's license would be advantageous
