Take the next step in your HSEQ career with a leading national mechanical contractor We are currently working with a Tier I Mechanical Contractor with a strong national presence, who are looking to appoint an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of HSEQ across a major Defence project in the ACT, working closely with an experienced project team and supporting the delivery of a high-profile construction project.

The company has an established reputation across Australia and a strong pipeline of major projects spanning Defence, data centres, commercial and other complex building services projects.

The Opportunity
As HSEQ Advisor, you will provide hands-on support and guidance to the project team, ensuring high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance are maintained throughout the project.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing HSEQ advice, guidance and support to Project Managers and site teams.
• Monitoring and managing hazard identification and reporting across site.
• Developing and implementing risk and hazard mitigation strategies.
• Conducting incident investigations and recommending corrective actions.
• Undertaking site audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
• Supporting the implementation and continual improvement of HSEQ systems.
• Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice.
• Maintaining HSEQ documentation and ensuring workers remain compliant.
• Reporting HSEQ performance and issues to senior management.
• Promoting a proactive safety culture and positive HSEQ behaviours across the project.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for an HSEQ professional with previous experience working within a construction, building services or mechanical contracting environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in an HSEQ / WHS / HSE Advisor position.
• Experience working on construction projects and within site-based environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and relevant standards.
• Experience with risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and safety systems.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with Project Managers, site teams and senior stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to identifying and managing HSEQ risks.
• Relevant HSEQ qualifications will be highly regarded.

Defence Project Requirements

Australian Citizenship is essential for this position, as the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain the relevant Australian Government security clearance required for the Defence project.
