Hawkins Resources is seeking four experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters for an immediate underground mining assignment at a well-established mine in Cobar, NSW.
This is a three-month contract commencing 1 September 2026, offering an attractive flat hourly rate, even-time roster and supplied accommodation with possibility of ongoing work
What’s on offer
$75–$85 per hour, based on experience
Superannuation paid on all hours worked
8 days on, 6 days off
12-hour shifts
Accommodation supplied during rostered swings
daily meal allowance
DIDO position – personnel are responsible for travel to and from Cobar
Immediate commencement
Potential for further opportunities following the initial contract
The role
You will undertake planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mobile mining equipment (Sandvik DD421 and the Sandvik D311D-40), including:
Fault-finding and diagnostics
Preventative maintenance and servicing
Hydraulic and mechanical repairs
Component change-outs
Breakdown response
Inspections and defect reporting
Supporting safe and reliable underground production
Requirements
Applicants must have:
Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant trade qualification
Demonstrated experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment
Underground hard-rock mining experience
Strong hydraulic and mechanical fault-finding skills
Current Australian driver’s licence
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, functional assessment and drug and alcohol screening
A strong safety focus and reliable work history
Full Australian working rights
Experience on Sandvik DD421 and the Sandvik D311D-40
