About the Company:
Law Staff is managing a rare in-house counsel role with a leading global organisation in its sector. It's a major ASX listed company, offering outstanding working conditions across Australia and international markets.

With a strong focus on inclusion and high performance, its people are at the heart of its continued success.

As an ASX100 it has a workforce of several thousand employees across global operations, and is a significant manufacturer and distributor of specialised industrial products, serving a diverse range of customers and industries worldwide, particularly the resources sector.

The Opportunity:
As In-House Legal Counsel, you will work as part of a collaborative team of lawyers and provide commercially focused legal advice across a complex, multinational organisation, working closely with senior stakeholders to manage legal risk, support strategic decision-making and enable business objectives.

This is a broad and varied in-house opportunity, providing exposure to strategic projects, corporate transactions, governance, compliance and commercial matters. Headquartered in Brisbane, you will assist the VP of Legal and work across multiple business functions, gaining visibility of significant initiatives and playing an important role in supporting the organisation's continued growth and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical legal advice across corporate, commercial and operational matters.
  • Support significant projects, strategic transactions and M&A activity.
  • Develop, review and maintain legal policies, governance frameworks and compliance programs.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Advise stakeholders on regulatory requirements, legal obligations and risk management.
  • Partner with teams across the organisation to identify risks and deliver pragmatic, commercially appropriate legal solutions.
  • Contribute to broader legal and business initiatives in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.

About You
To be considered for this role you must:

  • Be a qualified lawyer in Australia and currently hold or be able to secure an Australian Practising Certificate.
  • Experience gained in a notable law firm, ideally at the top-tier or national level. Whilst not mandatory, time served in an in-house environment (if only on Secondment) would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to corporate, commercial, transactional and/or major project work.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate legal issues into practical business solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously and collaborate effectively across a diverse organisation.

Benefits:
There are a range of benefits designed to support both your professional development and personal commitments, including:

  • Competitive parental leave arrangements, including additional superannuation support during eligible unpaid parental leave.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements (3+2 or 4+1).
  • Salary packaging opportunities.
  • Invitation to employee share ownership.
  • Confidential employee assistance and wellbeing programs.
  • Options to purchase additional annual leave, where eligible.
  • A range of corporate discounts and employee benefits.
  • Workplace giving and charitable initiatives.
  • Structured career development, succession planning and progression opportunities.
