Osborne Richardson is proud to partner with this QLD State Government Agency leading on key Transport and Main Road matters, to help deliver some of the Gold Coast's most significant infrastructure projects. Right in our home patch, the Coomera Connector Stage 1 (Coomera to Nerang) is reshaping how the region moves, and TMR needs a Senior Environmental Officer to bring their A game to the environmental side of the program, amongst other smaller projects ongoing and in the pipeline.
What's on offer: PO4 rate ($78.63 to $84.56 per hour + Super) | Based in Nerang | 12 months with possible extension
This is a cracking opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to play a lead advisory role on a major transport corridor project, working closely with the Project Manager and broader delivery team based in Nerang.
What you'll be doing:
- Delivering high-level advice on statutory obligations under environmental legislation, including the Commonwealth's EPBC Act
- Assisting with the delivery of Commonwealth and State environmental approvals and offsets
- Providing specialist environmental advice across all phases of the Coomera Connector Program, including review of project design, environmental surveys, spatial data, and the Public Environment Report (PER)
- Reviewing contract specifications, condition packages, audits and briefs
- Identifying environmental constraints and negotiating design modifications where necessary
- Coordinating and project managing environmental offsets and project land across multiple internal teams and external advisors
- Acting as a key advisor to project management on environmental issues and delivery risk
- Representing the project on working groups, steering committees and stakeholder meetings
- Maintaining effective liaison with internal staff, State and Local Government agencies and industry
- Providing input on ministerial correspondence and briefing notes as required
What you'll need:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution
- Current 'C' class driver's licence
- Sound working knowledge of the EPBC Act and Commonwealth/State environmental approvals and offsets processes
- Demonstrated experience providing environmental advice on major transport or infrastructure projects
- Experience reviewing environmental assessments, PERs, spatial data and contract documentation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across government and industry
- Ability to deliver high-level written and verbal advice within legislated timeframes
Willingness to undergo criminal history screening is required for the successful candidate.
