Salary/Level: Grade 3, $77,950 - $81,682 p.a. plus 25% No Fixed Hours Loading, District Allowance, Air Conditioning Allowance, plus 12% Superannuation

Location: Gascoyne Junction work centre, Kennedy Range (Mundatharrda) National Park, Bimbee National Park, One Tree Point (Jigabiddi) Nature Reserve, Chinaman’s Pool (Beerideegoorah) Nature Reserve, Western Australia

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this position is:

  • Responsible for developing, organising and implementing works programs, projects and activities across the Gascoyne Junction work centre, Kennedy Range (Mundatharrda) National Park, Bimbee National Park, One Tree Point (Jigabiddi) Nature Reserve, Chinaman’s Pool (Beerideegoorah) Nature Reserve and facilitating Rangers and Yinggarda Aboriginal Ranger Assistants in park management;
  • Ensures programs, projects and activities are developed in consultation with District Parks and Visitor Services, Conservation and Joint Management leadership teams; and
  • Supervises work centre staff and contractors, organising and mentoring Rangers and Aboriginal Ranger’s Assistants with a focus on the Gascoyne Junction work centre, Kennedy Range (Mundatharrda) National Park, Bimbee National Park, One Tree Point (Jigabiddi) Nature Reserve, Chinaman’s Pool (Beerideegoorah) Nature Reserve.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

  1. Experience in leading, supervising and managing teams, empowering individuals to work with confidence, encouraging a strong teamwork culture and working independently to deliver agreed outcomes and priorities within a harmonious work environment.
  2. Evidence of well-developed oral and interpersonal skills and experience in building and maintaining networks; liaising with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, special interest groups (including indigenous groups) and other stakeholders; and in patrol and enforcement procedures.
  3. Ability and willingness to work with traditional owners to deliver native title aspirations and goals through Joint Management, cooperation or collaborative arrangements.
  4. Experience and knowledge of implementing operational plans and works programs including budget management, associated with visitor management and natural resource management, having regard to the threatening processes affecting native flora and fauna and experience with infrastructure development and maintenance.
