Looking for a role that combines purpose, challenge and flexibility? This company is seeking a motivated professional to join their team as a Forensic Accounting Investigator.

This is a unique opportunity to use your investigative, analytical and accounting skills to help protect the integrity of the legal profession.

About the role
As a Trust Investigator, you’ll lead and conduct investigations into the affairs of law practices across NSW to ensure compliance with trust accounting requirements. You’ll plan and manage complex investigations, prepare reports capable of withstanding tribunal scrutiny, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders including solicitors, auditors, and legal representatives.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to maintaining high professional and ethical standards within the legal profession.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct and report on complex investigations into suspected breaches
  • Identify and gather evidence in line with legislative and evidentiary requirements
  • Analyse financial information to detect irregularities, fraud or non-compliance
  • Liaise with practitioners, auditors and regulators to manage cases effectively
  • Prepare detailed reports suitable for regulatory and tribunal processes

About you
You’re an analytical thinker with sound judgement and strong attention to detail. You’re comfortable dealing with complex financial data and confident engaging with senior stakeholders. You enjoy problem-solving, working independently, and producing work of the highest professional standard.

Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, or business
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Experience in forensic accounting, audit, compliance, or investigations
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial systems, and auditing principles
  • Knowledge of law and rules of evidence is desirable
  • Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required
