The opportunity
A well-regarded commercial firm is looking for an employment lawyer at around 2+ PQE to join its growing Employment & Workplace Relations team in Sydney. This is a real growth role, working directly alongside one of the more respected employment practitioners in the market, with the level of responsibility and court exposure that usually takes years longer to reach in a larger team.
The work
You'll act for employers across a broad, high-quality workload, including:
- Unfair dismissal and general protections (adverse action) claims
- Executive and complex separations
- Discrimination, bullying and harassment matters
- Industrial disputes and award compliance
- Workplace investigations, including whistleblower complaints
- Defence of underpayment claims
- Day-to-day workplace and work health and safety advice
You'll get regular advocacy experience in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court, advising clients across sectors including technology and SaaS, retail, transport, manufacturing and financial services.
About you
- Around 2+ years PQE with employment or workplace relations experience. More or less experience will be considered.
- Strong academics and a real interest in building a career in employment law
- A clear, commercial communicator who can hold client relationships
- Someone who wants to be stretched and mentored, not left to sink or swim
