Child Safety Commitment Statement

We are a Child Safe Organisation committed to the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children in our care. We have strong child protection policies and procedures in place that guide our practices and ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every child. All educators are expected to uphold our child safety standards, actively promote children’s rights, and contribute to a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all centre activities and operations.

Communicate regularly with all families in relation to service operations and be available to discuss parent concerns and children's development.

Manage all staff by providing guidance and through the facilitation of regular meetings, performance appraisals, staff development plans, recruitment and termination

Ensure compliance and continuous improvement with all state and commonwealth legislation and requirements.

Provide consistent and visible leadership in WH&S behaviours and actions within the team

Lead the development and evaluation and continuous improvements to the service

Ensure the Centre maintains Quality Assurance accreditation

Continuously foster a good relationship with the local community

Supporting the setup and preparation of materials, equipment and learning environments for children’s educational and recreational activities in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).

Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting children’s social and emotional development through responsive and developmentally appropriate interactions

Delivering engaging activities that promote learning, creativity and play, aligned with EYLF and QKLG principles.

Engaging children through storytelling, songs, games and imaginative play to support communication and early literacy development.

Supervising children during group and recreational activities to ensure their safety, inclusion and wellbeing.

Assisting with daily routines to promote independence, consistency and self-care skills.

Maintaining high standards of hygiene and supporting children to develop healthy habits and safe practices.

Building and maintaining positive relationships with children, families and colleagues to support a collaborative learning environment.

Documenting children’s learning and development and communicating progress with families.

Contributing to the implementation and ongoing review of the centre’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

Supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the centre.

Qualifications and Experience

· Candidates holding a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or a related field, or those willing to undertake further study towards a Diploma, will be highly regarded.

Previous experience in a leadership role in an early learning service

· Current First Aid qualifications (CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training) or ability to obtain.

· Valid blue card (or ability to obtain one).

· Demonstrated experience working within an early childhood setting.

· Sound understanding of the EYLF and QKLG and its application in practice.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.

· Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
