We're now looking for a Hire Controller to join our team.

The Role

This is a varied, fast-paced role combining equipment hire, customer service, coordination and administration.

This is not a sit-behind-the-desk role. You'll be regularly up and about in the yard, meeting customers, showing them equipment and helping them find the right solution for their job.

You'll be one of the key points of contact for our customers — from the first enquiry through to the return of their equipment.

You'll prepare quotes, manage bookings, coordinate deliveries and collections, handle extensions and off-hires, and solve problems when things don't go according to plan.

You'll also work closely with our yard, drivers, workshop and management teams.

No two days are the same.

One minute you could be helping a customer choose the right machine and showing them how it works. The next, you're organising a delivery, finding a solution to an equipment issue or helping a customer who needs something urgently.

What You'll Be Doing

Welcoming customers and providing a friendly, professional face-to-face experience

Showing customers equipment and helping them select the right solution

Responding to enquiries by phone, email and in person

Preparing quotes and converting enquiries into hires

Managing bookings, contracts, extensions and off-hires

Coordinating equipment deliveries and collections

Monitoring equipment availability and upcoming movements

Building strong relationships with new and existing customers

Following up enquiries and looking for opportunities to grow the business

Working closely with drivers, yard and workshop teams

Keeping customers informed and following through on commitments

Resolving problems quickly and finding practical solutions

Completing the administration required to keep the hire process running smoothly

The Person We're Looking For

You don't necessarily need to have worked as a Hire Controller before.

You might come from equipment hire, construction, automotive, trade retail, hardware, logistics, customer service or another industry where you've had to deal with customers and get things done.

What matters to us is how you work.

We're looking for someone who:

Is confident meeting and talking to customers face-to-face

Gets up and gets involved rather than waiting behind a desk

Turns up, follows through and can be relied upon

Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do

Is organised and can manage multiple priorities

Uses common sense and stays calm when things get busy

Is genuinely interested in equipment, machinery, tools or construction

Wants to learn and build their knowledge

Looks for ways to improve rather than accepting "that's how we've always done it"

Takes pride in doing a good job

Is willing to go the extra mile for customers and teammates

You don't need to know everything about equipment hire on day one.

What we do expect is that you want to learn, take responsibility and become someone our customers and team can count on.

Flexible Working Arrangements

We believe flexibility should work both ways.

We're happy to work with the right person to find a working pattern that suits both you and the needs of the business.

This can include flexible start and finish times, longer working days to allow an earlier finish on another day, or a Saturday morning shift in exchange for a weekday RDO.

We'll work with you to find an arrangement that works for everyone.
