Your role
As an Independent Speech Pathologist, you will:
Manage and grow your own NDIS participant caseload
Build relationships with Support Coordinators, plan managers, providers, families and participants
Complete speech, language, communication and swallowing assessments within your scope of practice
Develop person-centred therapy plans and measurable goals
Deliver individual therapy in-home, in the community or via telehealth where clinically appropriate
Assess and support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) needs where within your competence
Develop mealtime management or dysphagia recommendations where appropriately qualified and competent
Prepare NDIS reports, progress reports and review documentation
Provide training and education to families, carers and support teams
Complete professional case notes and clinical documentation
Manage your own diary, travel and appointments
Maintain professional, NDIS and Speech Pathology Australia requirements applicable to your practice
Deliver evidence-informed, participant-centred supports
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking speech pathologists who are ambitious, independent and committed to delivering high-quality NDIS supports.
You will ideally have:
Recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
Current eligibility for or membership with Speech Pathology Australia, preferably Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status
Experience working with NDIS participants or in disability/community practice
Strong assessment, therapy planning and report writing skills
Understanding of communication, swallowing and disability support needs relevant to your scope
Understanding of NDIS funding and participant-centred practice
Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
Existing referral pathways or confidence to build your own caseload
ABN with Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance
Current Police Check
First Aid & CPR
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working With Children Check where required
NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Reliable internet, equipment and transport where community visits are undertaken
