About the role
Havendoor's Day program centre - " The Good life Club" is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our Day Program Centre in Orange, NSW. This is a part-time position that offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. Working within the Aged and Disability Support sector, you will provide essential support services that enable participants to engage in meaningful activities, develop skills and maintain their independence and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
Provide direct support and assistance to program participants during day program activities and community outings
Assist participants with personal care needs, mobility and self-care activities as required
Facilitate and encourage participation in recreational, social and skill-building activities
Maintain accurate and detailed records of participant engagement, behaviour and support provided
Communicate effectively with participants, families, colleagues and management regarding participant needs and progress
Maintain a clean, safe and accessible environment for all participants
Support participants in building confidence, social connections and community integration
Respond to participants' needs with empathy, respect and person-centred approaches
Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures and compliance requirements, including health and safety standards
Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment
What we're looking for
Current or willingness to obtain a Certificate III in Disability Support or equivalent qualification
Valid Working With Children Check
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Valid NDIS WC
Demonstrated experience working with people with disabilities or in a support services role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse individuals
Physical capability to provide hands-on support and assist with mobility and personal care
Reliability, punctuality and commitment to providing consistent quality care
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations
Understanding of disability rights, person-centred support and inclusive practices
Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
