The Role

The Governance Support Officer provides high-level administrative and governance support to:

1. WAC – an ACNC-registered charity;

2. WCC – an incorporated association limited by guarantee; and

3.Wathaurong Glass – an incorporated association limited by guarantee.

This role is designed to support the smooth functioning of governance processes across all entities, including board and committee administration, meeting coordination, minute taking, and maintenance of records. The position is not a statutory or officer appointment under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) or the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2-12 (Vic). It operates strictly in an administrative capacity.

About You

Demonstrated experience in high-level administration, governance, or secretariat roles.

Strong organisational and communication skills with high attention to detail.

Experience in minute taking and board support.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.

Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple stakeholders.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.

Experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations or in a not-for-profit setting

Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and practices.

Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economic, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.

Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child-safe organisation in both practice and culture.

Desirable

Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Familiarity with governance frameworks for not-for-profit organisations.

Experience with supporting boards or committees of incorporated associations or charitable organisations.

Knowledge of ACNC Governance Standards and Victorian associations legislation.*A police check, Working with Children Check, Vaccination Certificate and current Driver Licence are required for all positions.
