They are a leading heavy mechanical engineering, services and contracting business operating throughout Australia and New Zealand in major capital cities and regional locations. They perform an integral role in the development of ANZ infrastructure across mining and resources, transport and power markets.

Location: Kosciuszko National Park, NSW
Roster: 17/7 FIFO – 12-hour day shifts
Salary: $240k - $260k (Depending on Experience) + Super + 25% Site Uplift

THE ROLE
The Preservation Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and leading the preservation strategy for all major electrical and mechanical equipment across the Snowy Hydro 2.0 Project. This includes Turbines, Generators, Hydraulic Steel Structures, Balance of Plant Electrical (BoPe) and Balance of Plant Mechanical (BoPm) systems.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained in a fit-for-purpose condition from delivery through to installation and commissioning, protecting the integrity of high-value assets while ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications, contractual requirements and quality standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with Logistics, Quality, Construction, Field Services and key project stakeholders to ensure preservation activities are executed safely, efficiently and in line with project milestones.
Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage all preservation activities across site and warehouse facilities, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements, storage protocols and manufacturer preservation procedures.
• Develop, implement and continually improve the project's preservation strategy, execution plan and preservation schedule.
• Ensure all mechanical and electrical equipment remains preserved and fit for purpose throughout storage, handling and installation phases.
• Coordinate closely with Quality, Construction and Logistics teams to ensure materials are available, stored correctly and preserved in accordance with project requirements.
• Establish strong working relationships with Field Services, suppliers and key stakeholders to coordinate preservation requirements and technical support.
• Lead preservation inspections, audits and reporting activities while ensuring all preservation records remain accurate and compliant.
• Identify, assess and proactively manage preservation risks, defects and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Participate in construction planning meetings, providing preservation expertise and ensuring preservation activities remain aligned with project schedules.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance preservation processes, efficiency and project outcomes.
• Ensure preservation activities are delivered in accordance with contractual milestones, quality standards, project budgets and delivery schedules.

ABOUT YOU

• Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in a Preservation Manager, Site Manager or similar leadership role on major hydroelectric, power generation, mining or large infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of preservation planning, execution and risk management for large-scale mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Proven knowledge of hydroelectric equipment installation, commissioning and manufacturer preservation requirements.
• Strong understanding of material handling, storage, logistics coordination and quality management processes.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders within complex EPC or construction environments.
• Highly organised with excellent planning, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Customer-focused, proactive and solutions-driven approach.
• Fluent English communication skills; additional languages will be highly regarded.

PROJECT INFORMATION
Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market.
