JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Specialist to design, develop, and execute end-to-end data migration activities across enterprise applications. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, developers, and testing teams to ensure accurate, secure, and timely migration of data from legacy systems into target platforms while maintaining data quality and integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Migration Planning

Define end-to-end data migration strategy and execution approach.

Perform source system analysis and data discovery.

Develop migration plans, timelines, and cutover activities.

Assess migration risks and mitigation strategies.

Data Analysis & Mapping

Analyse source and target data models.

Define field-level data mappings and transformation rules.

Identify data cleansing requirements.

Validate business rules with functional stakeholders.

Data Extraction, Transformation & Loading (ETL)

Develop and execute ETL processes.

Extract data from multiple source systems.

Transform data according to business requirements.

Load data into target applications.

Monitor migration performance and resolve failures.

Data Quality

Perform data profiling and quality assessment.

Identify duplicate, incomplete, or inconsistent data.

Execute cleansing and enrichment activities.

Ensure compliance with data governance standards.

Testing & Validation

Support SIT, UAT, and production rehearsals.

Perform reconciliation between source and target systems.

Validate migrated data with business users.

Resolve migration defects.

Cutover & Deployment

Execute production migration activities.

Support mock migrations and dress rehearsals.

Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams.

Support hypercare after go-live.

Documentation

Prepare migration runbooks.

Maintain mapping documents.

Document migration procedures.

Produce reconciliation reports.

Maintain audit evidence.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5 years of experience in Data Migration or Data Engineering, with experience delivering large-scale transformation or migration programmes.

Hands-on experience with ETL tools and migrating both structured and unstructured data.

Strong experience in SQL, data validation and data reconciliation.

Experience working across Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.

Experience in ETL development, data profiling, data cleansing, data reconciliation, data modelling and migration automation.

Knowledge of database administration and performance tuning.

Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and DB2.

Hands-on experience with Informatica, Talend, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue and IBM DataStage.

Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.

Experience with Python, PowerShell and Shell scripting.
