Confined Space Sentry / Safety Stand by

Location: Tumut NSW 2720

Commencing: Start of October 2026

Duration: 2 week Shutdown Project (Shifts Vary from 4-13 depending on roster availability available )

Shift Patterns: 12 hour shifts + 2 hours Travel paid time

Pay Rates (Flat Hourly Rates): EARN $700 - $850 per day / night

Day Shift: $49.00 / hr (Flat Rate)

Night Shift: $64.00 / hr (Flat Rate)

Additional Information

Your tickets MUST be VALID within 2 years

• You are required to make your own way to the accommodation in Wagga Wagga, NSW
• Site location of work is in TUMUT, NSW (transfers provided)
• 50 positions are available & shift availability ranges from 4 to 12 shifts across day and night
• Prior to commencing you are required to complete a number of inductions which you will be paid for

About the Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking Confined Space Sentries / Safety Standbys for an upcoming 2-week (4-12 shifts available) major shutdown project in Tumut NSW. You will be responsible for tracking personnel entry/exit, monitoring gas levels, and upholding strict safety permits.

This is a short-term contract with excellent earning potential due to high daily hours (earning $700 - $850 per day)

Key Responsibilities

Sentry Duties: Monitor and log personnel entering and exiting designated confined spaces.

Atmospheric Testing: Safely operate electronic gas detection equipment to test and monitor the working atmosphere.

Permit Compliance: Ensure all work adheres strictly to the site's confined space entry permits and WHS protocols.

Emergency Response: Maintain continuous communication with workers inside the space and initiate emergency procedures instantly if required.

Mandatory Requirements

To be considered for this crew, you must hold and provide evidence of:

Confined Space Ticket: Current Enter and Work in Confined Spaces competency (must have been issued or refreshed within the last 2 years).

Gas Testing Ticket: Current Gas Test Atmospheres competency (must have been issued or refreshed within the last 2 years).

Site Readiness: Ability to pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen.

Previous industrial shutdown or refinery experience is highly regarded.
