As a Director, Planning in our Established Growth team within Development Services, you will be responsible for managing a team of regulatory planners to facilitate the delivery of outcomes in Priority Development Areas. (PDAs). Key duties will include:
• Lead and manage service delivery of development assessment planning for assigned existing and potential Priority Development Areas (PDAs) and projects, ensuring business improvement, regulatory and compliance excellence, and the development of effective systems and frameworks.
• Provide high-level advice and act as a delegate for legislative processes, while serving as an escalation point for resolving complex planning and engineering issues.
• Collaborate with senior colleagues to ensure effective workload and resource management across the division to meet organisational demands.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership in a dynamic environment, ensuring service performance aligns with business objectives and customer service standards.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure service quality, consistency, and timeliness.
• Represent EDQ at external forums and committees to advocate for organisational objectives and foster productive partnerships.
• Prepare and deliver complex briefings, submissions, and reports to inform and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive a high-performance, customer-focused culture by building staff capability through coaching, mentoring, professional development, and fostering positive team engagement.
• Ensure robust governance, internal controls, and compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks and maintain stakeholder confidence.
• Lead the negotiation and management of services, performance standards, and revenue agreements with stakeholders to achieve shared goals and outcomes.

Success in this role requires:
• Demonstrated experience leading service delivery and strategic program management in complex planning, development or infrastructure environments.
• Proven ability to build and sustain strategic relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing executive-level advice and reports.
• Proven leadership ability to manage people, resources and priorities within planning teams to achieve measurable outcomes.
• Commitment to public sector values, integrity and continuous improvement.
• Tertiary qualifications in land use planning or a related discipline/s will berequired.
