We are currently partnering with a major Queensland State Government client to secure an experienced Fire Engineer / Fire Systems Specialist. In this role, you will step away from basic drafting and focus on what matters: critically evaluating wet and dry fire protection designs, reviewing performance solutions, and advising project teams to ensure total compliance across major building assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess wet and dry fire protection system designs against relevant QLD/Australian standards and NCC codes.
  • Critically challenge proposed fire system designs and performance solutions to spot flaws, manage risk, and drive practical improvements.
  • Provide expert fire safety guidance across both the pre-construction design phase and active construction works.
  • Prepare detailed, evidence-based evaluation reports outlining design findings, justifications, and compliance recommendations.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary project teams to ensure fire safety objectives are seamlessly embedded into overall building designs.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Australian and Queensland fire safety standards, building codes, and regulations.
  • The confidence to constructively challenge designs and deliver practical, compliant solutions for complex builds.
  • Clear written and verbal communication to write formal evaluation reports and present findings to project stakeholders.

Highly Regarded:

  • Professional registration or accreditation (e.g., RPEQ, CPEng).
  • Experience with performance-based design and developing or reviewing alternative solutions.
  • Exposure to both design review and on-site construction phases.

Benefits:

  • Direct oversight on significant public sector infrastructure and facilities.
  • Structured Monday-to-Friday hours with supportive team leadership.
  • Streamlined onboarding for an immediate start.
