The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join a profitable, PE-backed organisation at a significant point in its growth journey.
With ambitious plans to scale over the next three to five years through organic growth, new locations, strategic partnerships and potential acquisitions, the business is investing heavily in its people, systems and processes.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take complete ownership of the financial control function, leading a small team and creating a strong, scalable finance platform for the next phase of growth.
This is not a steady-state Financial Controller role. You will be given the autonomy to improve processes, strengthen controls, optimise systems and genuinely put your fingerprints across the finance function.
What You'll Do
- Own the month-end close, financial reporting and balance sheet integrity
- Lead statutory reporting and the external audit process end-to-end
- Maintain a strong financial control, governance and compliance environment
- Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team
- Drive improvements across processes, controls, reporting and automation
- Optimise recently implemented finance systems and improve reporting capability
- Partner closely with the CFO and FP&A function on business performance
- Provide high-quality financial information and insights to senior leadership
- Gain exposure to the Board and private equity investors
- Support future growth initiatives, including potential acquisitions and integrations
- Build scalable finance processes capable of supporting a materially larger business
What We're Looking For
- CA or CPA qualification
- Big 4 trained with local Financial Control experience
- Demonstrated experience operating at Financial Controller level
- End-to-end ownership of month-end, statutory reporting and audit
- Strong knowledge of Australian financial reporting, controls and compliance
- Proven people leadership and team development experience
- A track record of improving finance processes, systems and controls
- Exposure to high-growth, PE-backed, acquisitive or transformation environments advantageous
- Strong commercial understanding with the ability to partner effectively with FP&A
- Proactive, hands-on, and love a challenge
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging senior stakeholders
Why You'll Love It
This is a rare opportunity to join a business where the Financial Controller will have a genuine influence on what the finance function becomes. You'll work closely with an experienced CFO, gain direct exposure to senior leadership, the Board and private equity investors, and have the opportunity to support a significant growth journey over the coming years.
